Kharman’s Blog:October

Hello Whole Foods Market Campbell Bloggers! I wanted to begin by saying my favorite season is here! Autumn is the season for feasting and this means pumpkins, apples, and squash will be filling our store and your kitchens. One thing I love to make this time of year is baked spaghetti squash. The reason spaghetti squash has such a funny name is due to the way it is prepared. When you are finished baking the squash, you take a fork and scrape the inside. The meat comes out like noodles. This squash is a wonderful substitute for noodles and a great way to sneak vegetables into your kid’s meals. This means for those who are watching their carbohydrate intake or on a gluten-free diet can enjoy spaghetti. And of course preparing spaghetti squash is very simple.
First you cut the squash in half length-wise and rub the interior with olive oil. Then you place the squash rind side up on a tray and bake for about 10mins on 375F. After you finish you then want to scrape the inside out with a large fork. The inside will come out like little noodles. After ward you boil the meat for about 20 minutes or until it is as soft as you like. You then can use these noodles to make pasta dishes or unique vegetable side dishes. Not only are the new produce items a great reason to drop by, but also our demos and sales are spectacular!
With the change of the season Thanksgiving is on its way. We will be having a special Meet the Ranchers demo in the meat department on October 16th. The ranchers from Diestel Turkey will be handing out samples and talking turkey. This will be a great opportunity to stop by and talk to our wonder meat team members about future holiday specials.
On Sunday the 4th I will be demo-ing a recipe from our Whole Foods Market website. I will be making Chicken lettuce wraps. This is a fun healthy dish that will make a great meal or appetizer for your upcoming holiday parties.
Last but never least we should always think of our health that is why I will have two demos for Nature’s Path Pumpkin Flax Granola. Come by on October 9th and 17th and pick up little sample bags of granola with information to get online coupons. The granola is high in fiber, omega 3’s and protein. So not only will you get to save but you will also get a great healthy snack to take with you.
I can’t wait to see all of you here enjoying autumn as much as I do!
